16 August 2005

Time Machines do exist.

Who would believe a Time Machine actually arrived here in Martinsville, Virginia and remained for the nights of 12 and 13 August.

For two nights scores (100+) of the members of the Martinsville High School Class of 1965 met and took a time travel expedition of forty years past. That's right and what a great time. Several of the attendees had traveled from as far away as California. Some we hadn't seen for five years some twenty and a few for more than forty years. Friday night took us back to an old city hangout the local Bowling Lanes. Several people bowled while others caught up and enjoyed several of the refreshments many of the reunion committee had prepared.

Saturday night provided a great departure to a local Country Club where a Luau Themed evening took everyone back to Junior-Senior Prom Night decades in the past. Old friendships were again renewed and too sadly farewells gripped us all as the night wore thin. Handshakes, hugs and kisses were the order for departure.

I sneaked a peek inside that "Magnificent Time Machine" before it departed and noticed on one of the consols that someone had set the date for the year 2010 with a destination of Martinsville, Virginia. I could hear the crew announcing a "MAVAHI 65" departure, and wishing a safe and happy journey until the next reunion. Perhaps next reunion even more classmates will attend...what a great experience.
