Christmas Wishes - 14
12/22/09     Debby Gagliano  (1967)      DebbyGagliano@hotmail.com
Each Christmas when I finish my Christmas decorating and contemplate driving to work again in the snow, I remember Christmastime in Martinsville and try to explain to Jimmy and his family how special it was to me. We didn't always have snow but it was always cold standing on the street watching the Christmas parade the Saturday after Thanksgiving...difficult to compare this with the guys preparing their hunting gear and buying ammo for the first day of hunting in Pa!! I remember the wreaths, window disiplays and lights in Globmans's, Holt's, and Sidney's with that beautiful fountain in front of the entrance...we usually drove down Mulberry Road to see the lights and decorations that were so gorgous...I always participated in the Christmas Eve service at Broad St. Christian Church and each time I walked up the darkened aisle carrying my candle & singing "Joy to the World", I'd almost cry because this was really Christmas...sometimes we exited the church to a snow shower and that made it really special....not many white Christmas Eve's in Martinsville...now I seem to take them for granted. I can never duplicate these times or the feelings that accompany them but I try to make Christmas as special as I can for my "new" family...no matter what I do, it doesn't feel quite the same but I'm grateful for each one I am blessed to experience. May your hopes and dreams be fulfilled during this season and in the New Year...think of all of us on Christmas Eve and never forget the sweetness of "Christmas Past"......Debby Davis Gagliano
