Lyell A. Knighton
Died Wednesday, May 20, 2009

Lyell A. Knighton, 89, of 107 Mulberry Court, Martinsville, died Wednesday, May 20, 2009, at his home.

He was born in Orange on June 26, 1919. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Margaret McGregor Knighten.

Surviving are one daughter, Susanne Ramsey of Oviedo, Fla.; and three sons, Charles and Bob Knighten, both of Martinsville, and Doug Knighten of Collinsville.

A graveside service will be held Monday at noon at Roselawn Burial Park with the Rev. Randy Stevens officiating.

The family will receive friends at the home.

Memorials may be made to Virginia Tech Corps of Cadets, University Development 0336, Blacksburg, Va. 24061 (payable to VA Tech Foundation in memory of Lyell A. Knighton).

Collins-McLee-Stone Funeral Home, Martinsville Chapel, is handling arrangements.
