Melissa Ann Taylor, 48, of 300 Blue Ridge St., Martinsville, VA and formerly of Gershwin Lane, Martinsville, VA died Tuesday, April 1, 2008 at Blue Ridge Rehab. Center, Martinsville, VA.

Born on June 28, 1959 in Virginia, she was the daughter of the late Alice Jeannette Price Taylor and Mack Taylor, Sr. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by a brother, Mack Taylor, Jr.

Ms. Taylor was of the Methodist faith. She had worked for Martinsville Food Distributors, Taylor’s Supermarket and VDOT of Roanoke.

Ms. Taylor was a volunteer for the Martinsville Search and Rescue and a volunteer for Gateway Street Gate Foundation.

Surviving are her niece, Susan Taylor of Richmond, VA; three aunts, Georgia Shilling and Rebecca Taylor both of Martinsville, VA and Delores Whetson of Richmond, VA and numerous cousins.

A memorial service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 3, 2008 at Norris Funeral Services Chapel with Pastor David Westmoreland officiating. The family will receive friends Thursday, from 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m., prior to the memorial service at Norris Funeral Services.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the SPCA of Martinsville, 132 Joseph Martin Hwy., Martinsville, VA 24112.

Norris Funeral Services, Inc. and Crematory, Martinsville, VA is serving the Taylor family.
