Ola Jean Hodges Swain passed away Tuesday, June 23, 2009.

Ola Jean worked in the office of attorney C.P. Kearfott for many years. She really loved country music. In her younger years, she and her sister, Clara Faye, would often entertain at local gatherings by singing and
playing guitars.

Ola J. Swain

A memorial service for Ola Jean Swain, 72, of 300 Blue Ridge St., Martinsville,
who died June 23, 2009, at Blue Ridge Rehab Center, will be held at a later date.

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 554,

Roanoke, Va. 24003.

Swain was born in Henry County on May 13, 1937, to James W. Hodges and Nannie Pearl Richards Hodges. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three sisters, Louise Adkins, Edna Mae Hall and Dorothy Wright; and a stepsister, Mildred Radford.

She had worked as a secretary for a local attorney and was of the Baptist faith.

Surviving are one sister, Faye Arrington of Bassett; one niece; and four nephews.

Arrangements are by Collins-McKee-Stone Funeral Homes, Bassett Chapel.
