Irene Branscom Owen, 76, of Collinsville went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, December 31, 2013, at Blue Ridge Nursing Center of Martinsville.
She was born in Patrick County on October 6, 1937, to the late Willie Olen Branscom, Sr. and Alice Hilton Branscom.
Irene was of the Christian faith and a member of First Church of God of Martinsville where she was very active and loved her church. She enjoyed living life to the fullest, going to the beach and to laugh. She loved her family dearly but most of all she had a passion for her grandchildren.
Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by her husbands, Norwood Bumpus, Sammy White and Pete Owen; and one stepson, Ronnie White.
Left to cherish her memory is daughter of Norwood Bumpus, Rose M. Tilley and husband, Timothy of Georgetown S.C., daughter of Sammy White, Lora L. White of Martinsville; grandchildren, Brandon T. White and, Dillon L. Wall; stepchildren, Donna White, Patrice White, Renee Beamon, Ronda Carter, David Owen, and Troy Owen; brother, Robert N. Branscom and wife, Dowlene of Martinsville; Olen Branscom, Jr. of Martinsville and Wayne D. Branscom of Fieldale; and several step-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends on Friday, Jan. 3, 2014, from 6:00 – 8:00 o’clock in the evening in the Bassett Funeral Service Chapel and other times at the home of Shirley Fink, 74 Yates Road, Martinsville.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, January 4, 2014, at 11:00 o’clock in the morning at First Church of God of Martinsville. Interment will follow the service in Roselawn Burial Park.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Irene’s memory to First Church of God; 723 Stultz Rd, Martinsville, VA 24112.
