Barry Wood Lovelace of Boones Mill, Virginia, beloved son, brother, husband, father and grandfather passed away May 31, 2014 at Franklin Memorial Hospital. He was born January 24, 1938 in Martinsville, Va. to the late Erma Wood and James Beverly Lovelace. Barry was a graduate of Martinsville High School and Lynchburg College where he received his Bachelor of Arts in Business and Economics. After a long career in Sales and Sales Management throughout the mid-Atlantic states he retired from Associated Stationers and returned to Virginia. Barry is survived by his devoted wife of 54 years, Rosalie Montgomery Lovelace; sister, Patsy Smith (Rayford) of Martinsville; daughters, Lori Katherine Marterella of Warrenton, Va., Kelly Atkinson (Dr. Ernest Atkinson) of Kingstree, S.C. and Carol Carstarphen (Bill Carstarphen) of Belmont, N.C.; and seven grandchildren in whom he delighted, Kristen Noel Marterella, Alex, Mason, and Mac Atkinson, William, Ben and John Carstarphen; and many beloved nieces and nephews. He will be remembered always for his gentle and kind manner by all who knew him. The family wishes to express thanks to caregivers Linda Murphy, Mike Parks, Dr. James Bailey and the staff at Carillon Franklin Memorial Hospital, Franklin Healthcare and Carillon Roanoke Memorial hospital, in particular, Dr. Ajay Gupta of Rocky Mount, Virginia in his final days. We would also like to thank special friends Jenny and Ron Rocke, Becky and Jim Ellis and the congregation of Red Valley United Methodist Church of which Barry was a member. A Celebration of Life Service officiated by Reverend Joshua King is planned at Red Valley United Methodist Church on Saturday, June 7th at 1 pm with graveside service to follow. A reception will be held in the church fellowship hall following the services. Memorials can be made to Red Valley United Methodist Church, 30 Red Valley Road, Boones Mill, Virginia 24065. Arrangements by Flora Funeral Service & Cremation Center, Rocky Mount.
