The memorial service for Mary Newport Taylor, 76, of 12 Starling Ave., Martinsville, who died March 1, 2011, at Morehead Memorial Hospital in Eden, N.C., will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Christ Episcopal Church. The Rev. Russ Ingersoll will officiate.
She was born Feb. 17, 1935, in Danville to John Osborne Taylor and Edith Vernon Anson Taylor. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Elena Boaz Robertson and Edith Vernon Taylor.
She attended Peabody Conservatory in Baltimore and was a member of the Piedmont Music Teachers Association, affiliated with the state and national associations.
She was a lifelong resident of Martinsville and was an independent piano teacher for more than 40 years.
She was a choir member and soloist at Christ Episcopal Church, where her grandfather, the Rev. Alfred W. Anson, was Rector for more than 20 years.
Surviving are two nephews; one niece; and seven great nieces and nephews.
Norris Funeral Services in Martinsville is in charge of arrangements.
