July 4th Brings Back Mavahi Memories - 9
07/06/03     Dr. David Sparks  (1962)      cdsparks@rjia.net

As July 4, 2003 draws to a close, I am reminded of the general tone and tenor of our classes at Mavahi, particularly the History and Government classes.

I am glad there was an emphasis on Patriotism -- certainly not forced upon us, but we were presented the facts of history in such a way as to be able to see clearly what a great nation America really is.

It is somewhat puzzling to me how the reports of education in 2003 seem to indicate that patriotism is on the decline among this present generation.

All Mavahi'ers can be rightly proud that when it mattered most, our teachers were faithful in their facts, stedfast in their scholarship requirements of us, and were themselves patriots in the best sense of the word.

To all of you who frequent this wonderful MAVAHI.Com website,(and especially to our faithful WEBMASTER, John Frank), I wish you and your families a very blessed Fourth of July 2003.
