I find it a sad day for the class of 63 when during the past 12 months there have been only 6 messages posted. And what is worse, four are from me and three are about elk in my yard.
Where have all the flowers gone??

Hi Greg,
I hope all is well with you. Tis true, this wonderful website should be used by us much more. I think many people check it for messages, but fail to say anything, myself included. I have read all your elk sightings (ha-ha), but did not respond even though I enjoyed reading the stories and seeing where you are. I wish more people would give us how they are doing. As for me, I am headed to Fl for the winter. I like Juniper Springs in Ocala national Forest. I sure hope you can come to the 50th reunion in 2013? We will try to keep you and Melvin "Smitty" Smith from getting in a fight this time. He owns the convenience store and restaurant directly behind our old high school. I got in a fight with him in the 8th grade too, maybe everybody did.

I agree with Leon. I check for messages but fail to post any. We live on a farm so we are fighting the idea of stocking Elk in this area of Virginia. I am glad you are enjoying them where you live. We are afraid that they will destroy fences and eat the grass for our cattle. As always good to hear from you. I am enjoying my first year of retirement. I was a School Counselor at Powell Valley High School for 28 years. Hope you have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

Wow 28 years is dedication – the school system is lucky to have you join them. I do not know much about mixing elk and cattle. I do not hear complaints here but then I know that to have any fruit trees or a garden requires high fencing. The Roosevelt elk is bigger than the east coast variety running about 700 pounds for the female and about 1,000 pounds for the male.
My life sums up as one on the move - I have worked for seventeen different companies; lived in nineteen different places; and traveled and worked in thirty three states, three Canadian provinces, and twenty one other foreign countries spread between Europe, South and Central America, Asia / Pacific and the Caribbean. My jobs have taken me between being a long haul 18 wheel driver, CEO of a hospital, and founder of the first FDA approved technology for virtual colonoscopies (www.viatronix.com). In 1981 I met Judi, who is my best friend, my “split apart” and my wife. We are looking to settle down somewhere on the north coast of the Olympic peninsula in the coming months. I play the guitar fairly well, have written and composed four songs, and play at coffee shops and parties now and again.
Leon, I do not know if we can make the reunion in October. We do plan to come east this summer but do not know when. I will hope that some of us can get together when ever. We know the Ocala National Forest area and have camped in many different parts through the years – no question it is a great place to be (in the winter!).
