Yesterday, my brother Melvin had a heart attack. Enroute to Eden hospital in Phillip Sparks' car, Phil decided that Mel wasn't fairing to well and stopped at Ridgeway Rescue Squad who transported Mel to Eden. From there, he was rapidly transported to Moses H. Cone Memorial Hospital CCU in Greensboro. The doctor told me this morning they discovered blockage in 3 arteries (100%, 90% and 80% blockage. They cleared the 100% blockage which caused the heart attack and plan to clear the other two on Friday. Mel is doing much better now and I thank Phillip on his quick thinking to turn Mel over to the rescue squad. If all goes well, Mel should be able to come home this Saturday. I ask all to keep Mel in their thoughts and prayers for a speedy recovery. |

Re: MELVIN SMITH'S HEART ATTACK UPDATE |
Mel is back home now. The doctors inserted stents in two of his clogged arteries and did an angioplasty on another. He has to take it easy for a couple of weeks...by then he should be back to his old incorrigible self again. |

Re: MELVIN SMITH'S HEART ATTACK UPDATE |
Thanks, Nelson, for the update on Melvin. So glad and relieved to hear that he is at home and improving. Please help to keep an eye on him. He needs to get himself back in good shape for the "Old Dawgs" in October because that event just wouldn't be the same without the input of both of you Smith brothers.
