Andy's Final Challenge
Journal entry by Karen Williams — 17 minutes ago
Friends,
Andy passed away this evening at 8:30 after a month of struggling with the diagnosis of autonomic neuropathy and advancing cancer. In his unique fashion, he was philosophical to the end and ready to leave behind what had become poor quality of life. At the end, his family was there providing him with the love he needed to leave. He passed peacefully at St. Luke's Hospice house only 4 hours after arriving from KU's oncology center. A Celebration of Life is in planning phase, and information will be posted on this site in the near future.
To all of you who championed him over the past year and a half, I thank you. Andy once said that most people never get to attend their celebration of services, but through Caring Bridge, he felt that he lived it through your comments.
From the bottom of my heart, I thank you for making his last days joyful.

Re: Andy Goheghan |
Andy was such a special person. It was so rewarding, exciting, and fun to play and sing music with him and Rusty during our brief high school years at MAVAHI.

A webpage of a few photos of only a few years of Andy’s early life during high school in Martinsville, VA. Andy was an inspiration to us all.

Re: Andy Goheghan |
I followed Andy on Caring Bridge during his illness. His comments were expressed with great optimism and courage. Andy and I talked by phone several months ago. We talked old times, places, and people. I'm glad that I had that opportunity. Andy was a gift to us all, and he'll be missed by the many lives he touched. Drum on Andy... Thank you Will for posting his photos. |
