The WMVA Radio Tower that dominated the Martinsville skyline for 79 years, is no more. The tower was disassembled and removed from the old WMVA radio site in Chatham Heights. Coming into Martinsville from any direction at night, you could see the red blinking light atop the 412 foot tower. Pete Blume, Friday night football and "Night Train." Wonderful memories. |

Re: WMVA Radio Tower |
I lived on Chatham Heights and went by WMVA every day. I often wondered what M'ville would look like from the top of the tower, but I never had the nerve to ask about climbing to the top. It's a little sad to see another of my childhood memories become just that - a memory. |
