I worked at WMVA from 1962 ?1964.Our electronics teacher Bill Duger got me the job as arttime remote engineer and DJ. I had the honor of working with John Trenton Billboard DJ of the Year. I climbed the tower (twice) it was 407 ft tall. The beacon on top was 3.5 ft high. |

Re: WMVA |
Bill, you are the man. Climbing that tower took alot of courage. I can't imagine me climbing anything higher that a foot stool.Must have been a fantastic view from the top. |

Re: WMVA |
I got to reminiscing a couple of years ago and looked up Mr. Dugger (a great mentor to me as was Mr. Lane). I spoke with him and he was doing great and doing great things at Tech.
Our rock band (Gene and the Teen Beats ("Teen" then, not "Team") used to rehearse and record there in the 60's. Interestingly, you could turn on an Ampex reel-to-reel tape recorder and pick up the WMVA signal! |
