This is very interesting, Bill.. Climbing that tower took guts. Being a Chatham Roader kid myself, that tower was a wonder to us kids growing up, driving by daily and seeing that beacon in the night. Was there a reason you climbed the tower? Was it for mechanical reasons or did you do it on a tripledog-dare-you, or to impress your girlfriend. Someone should have taken pictures. Wish we could have seen it. Thanks for sharing this. Now, I'm gonna try posting this by clicking on the image below. A sailboat? Let' see. Is that the one with 2 wings and a pointy nose? No, that's bird. I know it's not the dog. And that other image is a volleyball. Ok, here goes. I'm pressing the button for what I "think" is the sailboat. |

Re: Climbing the Tower |
LOL l was the weekend DJ. People who worked there also wondered what it would be like to climb it so I did and took photos. That was 60 yrs ago and I still have vivid memories of those two climbs. |
