| My sister Jackie Hurd put me on to this site. Just a quick update on what I've been doing for the past 35+ years. I left school in Sept.62 and joined the Army. After training, I was assigned to the 3rd Infantry Regt. in Washington DC. In answer to the question "anyone remember", the 3rd Inf. is the Army's ceremonial unit, so I was a part of the Kennedy funeral, MacArthur's funeral and a whole bunch of others. During that enlistment I went to Germany and Viet Nam, and got out Feb 67. After working in Martinsville area for a couple of years, I reenlisted in the Army, and after various assignments in Germany, Korea and the States, I retired in Jun. 86. I took a year or so off , but went back to work for the Army as a DOD Police Officer. I retired again from the government in Sept 2000. Since that time my wife and I have built our retirement home in western NC (Wilkes County). I married Sandra Spraker in Mar 67 and we have two children, Jerome and Robin. Right now I work for the Wilkes County Department of Social Services as a Fraud Investigator, and Sandra is a Legal Assistant working for a local attorney. So overall, we've done well.
