For those of you who have not heard, Jay Shropshire, Anne Gravely's husband, died of an apparent massive stroke on Sunday May 24. He was buried in Martinsville on Thursday, May 27. Carol Hooker was kind enough to offer her lovely home as a gathering point for friends and family both before and following the funeral. Betty Sue Copenhaver and Jinky and Danny Critz were also wonderful in this most difficult time. Former Gov. Wilder and many other prominent friends of Jay were at the funeral and the reception that followed at Carol's home. Anne and Jay have a son Rusty who lives in Virginia Beach. Let's trasure each moment we have with friends and loved one's.
Love to you all!
Douglas

Re: Really Bad News |
Douglas, I was supprised to hear of Jay's passing. Even though we didn't pal around together, I respected him in school. He would always speak to me and help me if asked. We should all learn that our days here and the peoploe we know could be gone in a breath. Enjoy everyone you know and let them know you love and respect them. Tomorrow is a gift. |

Re: Really Bad News |
Hi Douglas!
I am so sorry to hear about Jay. He and I were in the same class nearly all of our grade school years at Joseph Martin. In the forth grade sixth grade he encouraged me to get in a fight with Boonie Cobbler who then beat me up ha-ha. I thought a lot of Jay. I even named my son Jay because I liked his name. This is a sad day.
Best wishe; Leon Custer |
