Bruce, Hall County (Gainesville), Georgia is one of the fastest growing counties in Georgia. Itwas known at one time as the "Poultry Capital" of the world. With the Hispanic population increasing and new industry and the beauty of Lake Sidney Lanier, our total population is ever increasing. I am at a Middle School. My assignment for next year is two Math resourse classes and one co-taught Math class in 6th grade. This past year I co-taught in 8th grade Language Arts, Science, and Social Studies with one 6th grade resource Math class. Most of the teachers are younger than my children. And let me say from the top that all of the teachers I see are trying to do an excellent job. Getting the students motivated to do classwork is a pretty tough job. Classes here are 90 minute blocks. Keeping their interest that long is a must. Anyway--just thought I would respond. Thanks for the questions. Jerry
PS I just finished a required computer course for teachers. |

I've been in education for 30 years. I'm now a principal at a small special education residential school in Lynchburg, Virginia. I'm glad you hve the enthusiasm and the motivation for your new career. I don't know if I could do it all over agin. Things have changed drastically over the years...Any classroom is a chalenge. Good Luck.
