Good stuff . George! I always thought you had a regal sort of air about you.
looking up that ancestry can really turn up some interesting things. I'll fill you in at the reunion on what my Pop dug up many years back... no kings but some neat stuff. john |

It is interesting what one can find. It seems my wife and I have an ancestor in common. King John. We might be Jerry Springer material. Being distant relatives.
Today, I found that wife's side goes back to Charlamagne too. Have gone back to mid 700s and more to see yet. It will be interesting to talk to you about your Pop's findings.
Take care |

George, we all want to be someone royal. I don't know what my side is but my husband is related to the great Queen Grace O'Malley, the Irish piratess from County Mayo in Ireland. I guess we should be proud but not after we saw her "castle" there. It is all very interesting. |

Re: good old,old,old days |
Hello Sandra,
I don't want to be royal. I just wanted to find some information about my ancestors. On both my wife's and my side, it seemed like it would not end. I would have been satisfied to know that my great, great, great grandfather was a famous outlaw in the west. We cannot chose who our ancestors are, but we can show our children and grandchildren how they should live their lives and respect their elders. Funny to say that word - elders. I am one now.
Hope to see you at the reunion in Oct. Take care.

Re: good old,old,old days |
George, eloquently said, we all should strive to elevate our kids. I have no problem in that area....my kids and my grandkids are all positioned much better than I. Genealogy teaches us much....where we came from and what is expected of us. I, too, learned a lot from genealogy. I learned that my many time great grandfather (George Thomasson) was a bookbinder/seller in London, and that his writings are on display in the Tower of London. I also learned that his wife (Catharine Hutton Thomasson) was the subject of a poem by Milton, who was their neighbor. Funny how Great, great, great, great, great grandparents were educated at Oxford, and for many generations they didn't graduate from high school. Miss Hilda tried to awaken that in me, but she finally gave up, and just labeled me 'the kid with the faraway eyes'.....archie |
