We are getting older.
Was telling my grandson how sad I was to hear of Russia's launch of its spacecraft--leaving the U.S. behind. Being a 5th grader (I believe) I went out at night to see if I could catch a glimpse of it passing overhead. Thank goodness that John Wayne and Clint Eastwood helped us catch up to those
Communists! A mere 12 years later, Armstrong,
Aldren and Collins found the moon!
Take care!

I too remember going out into my front yard at night and looking for Sputnik...
I nerver saw it but I remember hearing the signal on the news the following day...What a time to be a kid...Our imaginations went wild.

Quite right...two or three families went to the backyard commons to LOOK TO THE SKIES and see the blinking light. Nowadays there are so many satellites and blinking airliners and such in the sky you wouldn't be able to find Sputnik. |
