Does anyone know anything about the Buckner twins who lived in Martinsville during our elementary-jr.high years. One was named Kern I believe. Just wondered what ever became of them. They lived down the street from John Gregory. |

Re: looking for someone |
I had my first car date with Kern Buckner. We went to the Martin Theater to see an Elvis movie. A couple of years ago I communicated with him. He is a doctor in Colorado. I was surprised to hear that he had been a Navy pilot in Vietnam. He told me what his twin Jan was doing but I forgot. I think Jan was in the Northwest somewhere. They had moved to the Raleigh/Chapel Hill area around 1962. |

Re: looking for someone |
I suspect that we would not 'recognize' ourselves were we to be 'googled'....Jan and Kern were great guys, in a time when character counted, and the 'sky' was the limit of potential. I took over Jan and Kern's paper route on Broad Street, in 1961, or early 1962....I think maybe Jan and Kern's father passed away? I remember thinking, why would anyone move from 'Martinsville'? I gladly took the route, as I had Mike Gardner's route on Church Street, Moss Steet, and North Moss. Maybe someone will invite them to the next reunion....I sometimes think that 'maybe your best friends knew you 'before you joined the country club'....archie

Re: looking for someone |
We have actually invited them in the past to our reunions. There are quite a few I would like to have updated info on. Maybe Phillip Sparks can help us find some of these folks for our 50th. |
