Just received word that Senora Smith passed
away last week at the age of 100 years! Honest, some of my favorite times in ole' Mavahi were singing in Spanish class. In fact, one of my favorite tricks was to ask
her to play a record or two on a big test day
and the class would get caught up in singing
and Senora Smith would forget the test! To this very day, I can't remember too very
much Spanish (even tho' I took it for four
(quatro anos) years, yet I still remember the
songs... y muy hermosa SEnora Smith.... |

I can't believe that lady made it so long. We DID really take advantage of her age those many years ago. I thought she was long gone. Yea, 4 years of all that Spanish and I could never carry a conversation far after that. I did use it to my advantage at college when I took BEGINNING Spanish (I was out of state at first which meant no placement exam) and made a few EASY hours of A for my transcript. Ah, the sins of the young. |

Bless her heart...I never did learn to speak spanish ,but it sure wasn't from her lack of trying to teach me...
The day i remember was when Judy crews brought a rubber snake into the classroom before class and senora went diving from behind her desk onto the froor and broke her hip.
Poor Judy drops the snake and poor Senora is trying to crawl away from it across the floor...I don't think we had a test that day either. |
