Re: Will, I remember Mays too
Yep, C.G. Mays owned the place. He lived down past Carlise School in Irisburg. My cousin sent me a newspaper article where C.G. Mays had died this past year. I use to go to May's in the morning before school started. He had the soda fountain that he mixed the syrup into the carbonated water... it was gooooood. I use to go there in the morning before school and by a "Box" of Sweet Tarts from him for $2.40. There were 24 servings in a box. I would sell them at school for a $.25 a piece and make me some "Big Money." I would end up spending it back at Mays on my way home. He was a better business man than me.
I went to the old school in the 8th and 9th grade. It was a great place with a lot of great memories. I vividly remember as a young kid, 7 or 8 years old, going to the football games and basketball games. It is neat to look back at the yearbooks listed and see all the people that were football stars or cheerleaders when I was a little kid. It was a wonderful time watching the Mighty Big Red on Ben Ramsey field.
Take care and Go Dogs!
Take care.
