Folks, I don't know about you, but the passing of James Brown touched deep inside of this rather rotund body. His, as much as any, was the soundtrack for those four years on Cleveland Ave., and one of my great aspirations was to be able to motivate across a stage on one leg. Needless to say, that never happened, but his music gave me a permanent funk vaccination. He was the ORIGINAL. |

We should remember our own connection to James Brown. Hank Hedgecock did a post-show interview with him in Greensboro and James recorded a promo for Hank that went something like--"When I'm in Martinsville, I listen to my man Happy Hank on WHEE radio." James also gave Hank a pair of his cuff links as a souvenir. |
