Purnell just told me that Mary Howard Ragland Pullen's mother passed away yesterday (3/26/07) in Martinsville. The funeral will be on Wednesday.
I have such fond memories of Mrs. Ragland from a very early age. I was fortunate enough to go to 1st Presbyterian Church and as their house was just around the corner, we were always going there for one reason or another. Mrs. Ragland was always happy to see all of us and treated us as though we were her own children - lots of love and attention. I will always treasure those times. And, then there were the slumber parties! There are not a lot of people in this world as sweet and kind as Mrs. Ragland was and she will be missed by everyone who had the honor of knowing her.
The Class of '68 sends it's condolences to Mary Howard, Lucy and Jackie. You will all be in our thoughts and prayers at this difficult time. |

Beth,
I have just returned home and had the chance to see your sweet memories and kind thoughts. I can't tell you what it has meant to us three to have had the hugs, stories, and personal recollections added to our treasure trove of thoughts about Mom. We were blessed to have had almost 90 years of her gentle direction and wise counsel. It will be hard to begin learning to live without those, but we are built up by knowing the legacy that Mom gave to others as well.
Thank you for taking the time to share with us. |
