I'm sure most of us have heard that Bobby lost his long battle last Friday. A friend says he handled everything with "humor and grace" until the end. He will certainly be missed.
I understand there will be a memorial service this Sunday, Oct 12 at 3:00 in the chapel at First Baptist. I'm sorry I can't be there, but I'll be thinking of Bobby and how much he made me laugh. |

Re: Bobby Morse |
I saw "Booby" at Edisto Island last summer. We met by chance...my sister overheard him on the beach, talking about Martinsville, and invited him to our house for supper. Of the 20 family members there, I was the only one who had ever met him, but he charmed everyone, young and old, in the house. As he regaled us with stories(some were true!) from the 60's, my mind drifted back to him in those days...always talking and always laughing. He came over every day after that...the second night, we were having some beers on the beach, and he told me that he was very sick...it was the kind of conversation that always has the potential of resulting in uncomfortable silence, but hey! it was Booby, and there wasn't much silence, when he was around! He was hopeful, but practical, and his philosophical attitude seemed to comfort him...and me, for that matter.
We talked about Mavahi a lot, that week, and drank a bunch of beers. When we hugged goodbye on Sunday, I could see my sister start to cry a little, but I took my cue from my old pal Booby, and laughed. |
