| I visited Julie yesterday in the Blue Ridge Nursing Home. Her address is: Julie F. Lucord, 300 Blue Ridge Street, Room 160B, Martinsville, VA 24112; her cell number is 276 252 6182. Julie is an inspiration to me. She was in her electric wheelchair and with an eternal smile she told me how happy she is to be back in Martinsville near her family. Little does she realize everyone who went to Druid Hills School and high school is a friend...whether you know it or not. She loves anything having to do with Elvis, reads all the time (please send her books) and watches a small TV. She tells me she loves it there where all her needs are taken care of. The only thing lacking in her day is our communication with her....that is my opinion entirely. Please at least call and tell her who you are and that you read she was back in Martinsville and just wanted to say "HELLO!" She is still the sweet and thoughtful person she always was and I am grateful to be able to tell her I love her and that she is an inspiration. The next time any of you begins to feel sorry for yourself, please think of the hardship Julie has dealt with all her life, that she is in a small room with few possessions, that she reads for adventure and it inspires her imagination and that her cell phone is her link to the outside world. I could not ever be the person Julie is. But, when I left her yesterday, I felt a spirit of elation. She can do that for you, too. Please go by and see her. Please send her a note. |

Hi Peka,
Thanks for posting this. I'll try to stop in and see her. I drive by Blue Ridge all the time. I didn't know what had happened to Julie. |
