John Thomas Carter, beloved husband, father, and Papa, passed away peacefully on February 4, 2016, from complications due to a rare and aggressive form of dementia, at the age of 61. He resided in Martinsville, Virginia, where he was born to Thomas and Nancie Carter on October 14, 1954.
Johnny leaves behind his loving wife of 34 years Cathy Carter. Others left to cherish his memory are his son and daughter-in-law Will and Kristy Carter of McLeansville, NC; his daughter and son-in-law Kimberly and Justin Frye of Kings Mountain, NC; and his precious grandchildren Marshall, Mackenzie, Grady, Anderson, and Judson who will miss their Papa so. In addition to his parents, Tom and Nancie Carter of Martinsville, John is survived by his brother Robert Carter of Halifax, VA; his sister Glenda Massey of Charlotte, NC; and several nieces and nephews.
John attended Martinsville High School and Elon College where he majored in Business Administration and Accounting. John was a passionate businessman and worked hard his entire life. In 1993, he purchased his first H&R Block franchise and continued to own and operate multiple H&R Block offices along with other business endeavors until his passing. John loved racing anything with an engine, "wheeling" in his Jeep, being outdoors, and most of all, spending time with his family. |
