I am sorry to post the loss of a friend, a father, a mentor to many in the Salem/Roanoke area, and the husband of Mavahi Grad, Cathy Griffin....Bernard L. (Dennis) Price.....
Bernard (Dennis) Lee Price II
(October 21, 1957 - December 21, 2010)
Bernard (Dennis) Lee Price II, 53, of Roanoke, passed away on Tuesday, December 21, 2010. Dennis was a very smart and generous man who believed in giving back to the community. He worked hard toward being successful, and that was accomplished ultimately through the family business of the Greenway Market in Botetourt. He was a graduate of VA Tech. Aside from being a diehard Hokie Football fan, he loved watching Andy Griffith and taking on the show’s valuable lessons. Preceding him in death was his grandmother, Olivia Akers. His surviving family includes his mother, Alma Price; wife of 25 years, Cathy Price; children, Zachary Price, Mackenzie Price, Madison Price, and Zane Price; sisters, Carolyn Glass and Cheryl Dyer; and a best friend who was like a brother, Doug Carter. The family would like to extend a special thanks to all who have expressed overwhelming love and compassion, and especially to the Migliareses and Dishaws. A period of visitation will be held on Monday, December 27, 2010 from 6 to 8 p.m. in the John M. Oakey & Son Chapel in Salem. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, December 28, 2010 at 1 p.m. at Lakeside Baptist Church in Salem. Entombment will take place at Sherwood Memorial Park. The Rev. Greg Reynolds will officiate. In lieu of flowers, the family is encouraging that contributions be made in Dennis’s name to a charity of choice. Online condolences to the family may be made at www.johnmoakey.com. The Price family is being served by John M. Oakey & Son Funeral Home in Salem, 540-389-5441.
