25th Reunion
WOW! It has really been 25 years since we graduated from high school! We are planning to celebrate this milestone the weekend of October 3 – 4, 2008, so mark your calendars, get your babysitters, and book your plane tickets! It’s time to celebrate!
We have had plenty of folks helping out in planning this grand event, but more help is needed in the months coming up. What can you do to help?
Our Friday night event is planned to be at the Elk’s Club. It will be a casual BBQ social event so that folks can get reacquainted as they arrive in town.
On Saturday morning, the planning committee is looking into a possible golf game with friends for those that are interested in playing. Stay tuned for more info on this. It would not be a structured tournament—just friends meeting to play a round of golf. We’ll keep you posted on that.
After much debate about our Saturday evening affair, we have decided on Forest Park Country Club (due to the mass size of their dance floor) to have our dinner and dance. We have booked the band, The Groove Train (www.thegroovetrain.com) for Saturday night, so we can “Boogie Oogie Oogie� the night away! This band really knows how to put on a show, so this dinner/dance will be the best reunion party ever!
So, you are still asking, “What can I do to help?�
A) Cindy Abercrombie Burdette has been trying to locate all our old friends and some of you have received her emails requesting addresses. She has been using the www.Mavahi.com website to list the missing class mates and has had much success. However, we still have a few classmates that she needs help locating. So, if you know that folks have moved or know their addresses or families to contact, please have them contact Cindy at her email address: cindyburdette@earthlink.net as soon as possible. We want ALL our classmates there this year!
B) We need several volunteers that live in town or close by to help with the decorating of the Elks Club and Forest Park. We need some folks to be in charge of planning ahead for and putting up the decorations. This is not a one person job, so, the more the merrier, right? The decorations do not have to be fancy. I think we have a welcome banner covered. However, we’ll want some kind of decorative items. Please contact Cindy if you think you can assist with planning or placement of a few decorations.
C) Remember that fantastic band that was mentioned above? Well, unfortunately they won’t play for free, so we will need some band sponsors to help out. The preferred sponsorship will be $100, but any amount will be welcome! You may contact either Linda Lawrence Dalton at lawrencedisthob@mindspring.com or Hutch Mauck at mauck22@comcast.net for more information about being a band sponsor. All sponsors will be recognized at the dance by banner and an announcement made at the dance.
So there we have it! There is still so much to do and so little time to do it in! We are striving to make this the best reunion yet and are hoping that we can have ALL our old friends with us there to enjoy it! Enclosed is a sheet to sign up for the decorating committee and also for band sponsorship. Please complete the form and return to Cindy Abercrombie Burdette by May 15, 2008 so we can move forward in this exciting event!
