MHS Class of 83 Memories
Do you remember
Way back in the day
When life meant lots of school work
But also fun and games?
Remember hanging out in the commons
Before the morning bell would ring
And then rushing to class
For notes, labs, tests, and things?
Remember the intercom voice
Repeating the most famous announcement,
“Teachers, close the windows.
The chillers are on in the plant?
Remember marching into assemblies
While the senior song “Touchdown played
And that special SENIOR SHOW
When all our “talents were displayed?
Remember joining clubs, band, choir,
Student government, and sports teams…
And performing in plays and musicals
And dressing up for Spirit Week?
Remember pep rallies and cheering
To win Spirit Stick class bragging rights
And pom pons and the Fight Song
And everyone dressed in red and white?
Remember Dan Greene Stadium
Friday football games
And Mavahi Band half-times
And then Pizza Hut post game?
Remember basketball at the Dog House—
Packing the gym on Cleveland Avenue
And traveling to University Hall
When we went all the way to State too?
Remember hot dogs at Rumley’s
And movie dates at the Rives
And cruising the strip in Collinsville
Just to “see and “be seen?
Remember Homecoming—
The assembly, game, and court too…
The Alma Mater and big chrysanthemum corsages…
And going to the big dance too?
Remember prom and yearbooks
And those memory books we had
And then finally graduation
That was both happy and sad?
It’s been a quarter of a century
Since we walked the halls of old MHS,
But those special Class of 83 memories
We will never ever forget!

Re: Poem Shared at 25-Year Reunion |
This is a very moving poem. I think you have missed your calling in life. It is a wonderful poem and took a lot of your inner self to write. Simply ( Beautiful )
Thanks ! for making me slip back 25 years! |
