John A. Abshire, Jr. Died Sunday, December 20, 2009 Apr 16, 2010 John A. Abshire Jr., 74, died Dec. 20, 2009, at his home. He was born Feb. 3, 1935, in Roanoke to John A. Abshire Sr. and Sallie Ramona Dillon Abshire. His parents preceded him in death. He served in Korea with the Army. Surviving are two brothers, Raymond Randolph Abshire of Ridgeway and David Gayle Abshire of Martinsville, and several cousins. A memorial service will be at 3 p.m. Sunday at Bassett Funeral Service with Pastor Bobby Shively
