I read in Friday's Martinsville Bulletin that a former classmate, Mary Ann Myers, had passed away. I don't recall that she actually graduated with our class of '56, but do remember her in the earlier high school years at which time she often went by a childhood nickname of "Muddy."
My deepest sympathy to her family. (Obit below)

LEBANON — Mary Anne Myers, 75, of Cleveland, Va., died Wednesday, March 27,
2013.
She was born March 27, 1938, to Mattie Skeen Stuart and Herman Myers. In
addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Patsy Ashbrook
Wingfield.
She had worked as a psychiatric practical nurse and volunteered at various
organizations, including the Lebanon public library and charitable groups.
Surviving are three children, Jeffrey Michael Watkins of Martinsville, Jaye
Watkins Schissel of San Francisco, Calif., and Kelly Watkins Massoud of
Richmond; one grandchild; one niece; and two nephews.
The funeral will be at 8 p.m. today at Owens Funeral Service, 7 Tate St.,
Lebanon, with the Rev. Jeff Kinder officiating.
A graveside service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Russell Memorial Cemetery
in Lebanon.
The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. until the funeral today at the
funeral home.
Memorials may be made to the animal charity ACHASI (www.achasi.org), founded
by her daughter Jaye Schissel; or to an animal organization of the donor’s
choice.
