Thanks to Kathy Mitchell Rice, today’s “Old Dawgs” annual reunion was another huge success. I was lucky enough to have been
drafted to sit at the “greeter’s” table along with Wayne Owens,and Lonnie Carter (both from class of ’63). For that reason, I was able to get a pretty complete list of those attending. Several people had someone accompanying them. When I don’t know if it was a spouse or friend, to be on the safe side, I’ll just list them as “guest.”
Class of ’53 - Bobby Draper and guest, and Jo Ann Zimmerman Frost
Class of ’54 - Merle Brigman Duffy, Lucy Tyson Lemons, Harrison Stoots and wife, Ruby.
Class of ’56 - Jim Brigman and wife Esther,(For some reason I can always remember
her name.) Harry Robertson and wife, Sarah, and yours truly, Esther Sparks Powell.
Class of ’57 - Ken Major
Class of ’59 had a very good turnout. Gloria Hawkins, Brenda Cox Hagood,
Jeanne Flora Hinchee, David Kendrick, Philip Merriman and wife, Shirley,
Harry Hatcher, Dave Robertson, and my sister, Anna Sparks.
Class of ’60 - Joe Arnoult, John Parcell , and Kathy’s brother Jack Mitchell
Class of ’61 - Rannie Bouldin, Patsy Hobson
Class of ’62 - Bill Hensley and guest, David Sparks and wife, Christine (no
problem identifying who he was with.) lol
Class of ’63 also had a good turnout. Wayne Branscom, Leon Custer, Hazel
Laprade Glenn, Cary Cole Happe and guest, Anita McKenna Priddy, Molly
Randolph, David Reynolds and wife, Darlene Scott Sampson and guest, Melvin
Smith, and last but not least, my two buddies, Lonnie Carter and Wayne Owens.
Class ’64 - Jane Self Altizer and guest, Ann Carter Gardner, Shag Laprade,
William Shields, Ken Wilson
Class ’65 was in town for their 50th and they really had an impressive turnout.
Carlotta Spencer Aist, Barry Brigman, Ricky Carter and guest,
Johnny Coulson and guest, Evelyn McBride Davis, Donna Gibbs Haneline,
Warren Hensley, Bob Hollander, Terry Pinkard Horres, Linda Brown Koger, Rusty
Lacy, Lewis Martin, Hulet Montrief, Susan Adams Oliver and guest, Sandra Young
OMalley, David Jones, Polly Elkins Rosenstein, Walter Sheppard and guest, Hilda
Self Shield, Wes Shumate and guest, Frankie Smith, Jenny Jennings Smith,
Suzanne Dickerson Steele and guest, Lynn Connelly Swendeman and guest,
Janie Carter Vaughan, Sheila Culbertson Wagner and guest, Audra Whitlow, and
Kathy Mitchell Rice, and Philip Sparks, who deserve kudos for this good
turnout of their class.
Class ’66 - Mary Lou Lane Brigman, Mallory Carter Joyce
Class ’67 - Gloria McBride Compton, Kay Inman Garman
Class ’68 - Debbie Wade Price
Class ’69 - Robert Oakley, Anne Hill Rush, Denny Wade, Dee Dee Dudley
Class ’70 - Kenny Smith
