Mr. Putney was always one of my most favorite teachers. I have so many fond memories of him during my Mavahi years. My sympathy to his family.
William K. Putney, Jr., 90, of Martinsville, VA passed away on Tuesday, September 13, 2016. He was born on June 29, 1926 to the late William K. Putney, Sr. in Big Island, VA. Mr. Putney was a member of Forest Hills Presbyterian Church and served in the United States Army. He was Principal at Martinsville High School and Chairman at the School Board.
He is survived by his daughter, Linda Lee Putney of Brunswick, GA; son, Kem Putney of Williamsburg, VA; brothers, Lacy Putney and Macon Putney both of Bedford, VA.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, September 16, 2016 at Forest Hills Presbyterian Church at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Robert Button officiating. A reception will follow the service at the church.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the MARC Workshop, P.O. Box 3749, Martinsville, VA 24115.
