2017 Old Dawgs Reunion
What a beautiful day to celebrate this year's "Old Dawgs" reunion. We had a nice turnout and everyone seemed to thoroughly enjoy being together and rehashing old Mavahi memories.
We certainly missed Kathy Mitchell Rice, who was unable to be there due to recent surgery. We appreciated the fine way that she had managed to have most of the details taken care of, leaving the committee's job so much easier.
We do wish Kathy a speedy recovery.
Food was again catered by Debbie's Catering (Titus Sparks')
of Stoneville. Invocation was given by Rev. J. David Sparks.
School songs were led by Ann Carter Gardner. Committee
members were Philip Sparks (who MC'd for Kathy), Ann and Dink Gardner, Anne Hill Rash, Linda Koger, Patsy Hobson, Anna Sparks and Esther Sparks Powell.
There was an extra-special presentation made by Mr. Howard Huff, former Director of the Miss Martinsville Beauty Pageant,
honoring Barbara Guthrie Lay, (class of '57), who was Miss Martinsville and Miss Virginia of 1958, Barbara is the oldest still living Miss Martinsville, who has also won the Miss Virginia. She is still
a very lovely lady and could no doubt win again today if she chose
to enter.
