Just saw in today's Bulletin Obits that classmate Raymond Abshire had passed away. Raymond was always a quiet and polite person. I use to see him occasionally at Dupont and he never changed a bit down through the years. My deepest sympathy to this family.
Obituary for Raymond Randolph Abshire
Raymond Randolph Abshire, 84, of Ridgeway, Virginia, passed away Monday, March 6, 2023. He was born June 7, 1938, in Martinsville, to the late John Alonzo Abshire and Sally Ramona Dillion Abshire.
Raymond was a dedicated employee of Dupont and retired after eighteen years as a Machine Operator. He was of the Baptist faith, loved farming and working with his farm tractor. He loved hard work. You could find Raymond relaxing by going through his seed catalogs.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, John Alonzo Abshire, Jr. and David Gayle Abshire.
He is survived by his loving wife of sixty years, Faye Abshire; sons, Michael Ray Abshire and Anthony Lee Abshire.
All services will be private.
