Fellow '56 classmate E.J. Steagall has passed. My sincere sympathy to the Steagall family and friends.
Everette Jefferson Steagall II, 85, of Martinsville, Virginia, passed away Sunday, December 24, 2023. He was born June 4, 1938, in Martinsville, to the late Everette Jefferson Steagall, Sr. and Madeline Elizabeth Steagall Garrett.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Stacey Dawn Steagall; brothers, Everette Jefferson Steagall, Jr., Ralph Milton Steagall, and James Bill Steagall (Barbara).
Everette proudly served his country in the United States Air Force and enjoyed watching NASCAR racing, especially Jeff Gordon.
He is survived by his sons, Richard Randall Steagall, Sr. of Greensboro, NC and Barry Stephen Steagall of Long Island, NY; grandchildren of Greensboro, NC, Allyson Halstead (David), and Richard Randall Steagall II (Ellie); and great-grandchildren of Greensboro, NC, David Matthew Halstead III, Samuel Garrett Halstead, Madeline Elizabeth Halstead, Adelade Christine Steagall, and Amelia Reign Steagall.
All services will be private.
