Signed on to look at the website for the first time in ages and was so surprised to find that all our smiling faces had been scanned in (at least as we looked in 1957). What do ya think? Have we changed? We've been living in Alabama for 40+ years, and because of work, Tom's work, the fact that I waited till I was nearly middle aged to have children, etc. I haven't been able to attend any class reunions. Had a letter from Lynne Shumate a couple of weeks ago regarding the upcoming reunion on Oct 26th. We're actually going to be in Martinsville on Oct. 24 and 25 visiting my dad who is in an assisted living facility there. Unfortunately, on Oct 26 we will be leaving. Our children and their spouses gave us. for our 40th anniversary, a night at the Martha Washington Inn in Abingdon, tickets to a play at the Barter Theater and dinner at the Tavern. The reservation is for October 26. If any of you are getting together on the 25th before all the festivities, let me know. We'd love to attend. We'll probably be at the Jameson or the Hampton Inn. The reservation will be in Thomas Killough's name. Call and leave a message, or send me an email.

Re: What a Surprise! |
Gail -
This is Charlie Via writing. I remember you though you might not remember me. I was in the class of '58. I married Anne Hennessey from your class.
Saw your e-mail and thought I would send you a reply.
I also am new to the website, getting the URL today for the first time from Jim Rothrock who also lives here in Richmond.
Anne and I will also be unable to attend the upcoming class reunion in October. Turns out that our daughter gave birth to twins (boy and girl) in late June and we will be visiting her when the reunion is being held. These are our first grandchildren. She and her husband live in Barbados, so the visit will also have some of the elements of a vacation - and, the babies are beautiful.
Ann Kearfott Hodnett recently moved to Richmond from the Baltimore area. We saw she and Jim recently and they are thinking they may be able to attend the reunion.
Hope you are able to get together with other classmates while in Martinsville.
My Best to You and Your Family -

Re: What a Surprise! |
I finally made it home last night about 7 p.m. --- nasty, nasty weather. Thunderstorms, a nearby tornado, lots of traffic.
But it was worth it! Really enjoyed our long phone conversations, and the reunion was so much fun.
O.K., we're not losing touch again --- my place or yours! And we'll both be at the next Reunion.
My love to Tom. I forgot to tell you that his directions were very good. And of course we know his part of the banner of perfect!
