Recognition Of Past Friends - 4 |

As I reached a personal "milestone" today
by turning 67 years of age ... I wish to
look back and remember some old friends
from MHS who have passed on. Folks like
Cletus Perdue and Dr. Lloyd Lawrence come
to mind first because they were also friends
of mine from the Jones Creek area. I also
feel sad about Homer Handy and Rip Moser ...
both of the Class of '56 ... who passed on
at age 66. There are many that I most like-
ly do not know about ... but if they were
members of the Class of '57 or the Class
of '56 ... they deserve to be recognized.
My plans are to hopefully live until the
next 'Old Dawgs reunion and be in attend-
ance. Hopefully there will be a large turn
out for the Class of 1957. So if you can
possibly attend ... BE THERE. |

Re: Recognition Of Past Friends |
I overlooked one very important old friend.
A guy from the Class of 1955 who rates
recognition ... Ira Ted Young. Anyone who
attended MHS from 1952 thru 1955 had to
know Ted Young because of his basketball
play with the Bulldogs. May the memory of
Ted Young always be present at MHS. |

You might be correct about that, Junior. I
recall Cletus as a "Yogi Berra" type hitter.
Cletus could really "lay into" a baseball.
As young buddies ... I remember Cletus as a
kid that did not smoke or drink ... and his
strongest words were "aw, puke". In later
years, all of that changed. But, Cletus
Perdue restored his personal life and found
happiness only to be "struck down" in his
50's. Shameful, really. Cletus was a "good
old boy" in every sense of the words. |
