So saddened to read of Irvin's passing this morning. Irvin was such a nice person, always a gentleman. He was a loyal "Ole Dawg" and I always enjoyed seeing him at the annual reunions. My deepest sympathy to his family.
Robert Irvin Painter
January 14, 1940 - January 2, 2021
Robert Irvin Painter, 80, of Martinsville, Va., passed away on Saturday, January 2, 2021, at his residence. He was born on January 14, 1940, in Martinsville, Va., to the late Cloyd Painter and Annie Fowlkes Painter. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Jim Painter.
Mr. Painter worked at E.I. DuPont for thirty years.
He is survived by his wife, Sylvia W. Painter of the residence; daughter, Anne Marie Painter of Martinsville, Va.; son, Shane Painter of Williamsburg, Va.; and his sisters, Audrey Lawson of Richmond, Va., and Judy Painter of Martinsville, Va.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Virginia Athletics Foundation, www.virginiaathleticsfoundation.com.
