J.R. Martin passed away a little after 10 AM this morning. He has courageously battled cancer for the last several months.
What you saw with J.R. was what you got--he was just a good person & friend. And when he was younger, he was one tough son-of-a-gun! Nobody 'fooled' with him or his friends! When I visited him on Thurs. & Fri. of last week, I told him how tough he always had been. While struggling for breath, he said "I'm not so tough now". I told him that he was 'tougher' now by the way he was battling this illness. I unashamidly told him that I loved him when I left his hospital room both mornings.
My heartfelt thoughts go out to his wife, Nannie, sisters Yvonne & Dorothy, brothers, Fred(Buggs) & Horace and other family members.
J.R.----you won't be needing any of those canes(collection of hundreds) anymore. You're whole & without the 'limp' now. And you can look up Hank Williams & y'all can sing all his old favorites that you liked so much. So long my friend.
