After playing trumpet his first year in band, my 12 year old son decided to follow in his dad's footsteps and switch to the baritone (only one in his grade). Hopefully, he will have as great an instructor as I did with Mr Ralph Shank and Mr Mac and dedicate himself to the instrument as I tried to do. He plans to tryout for district band next month so we're keeping our fingers crossed. |

Re: ANOTHER BARITONE PLAYER ON THE RISE |
It's too bad the MHS band alumni don't use this site more often. I was in the MHS band on Cleveland Ave from 1957-62 as I entered the HS band as an 8th grader. That being said, I retired in 1998, bought a saxophone (now have 3) and am playing in a community band in Roanoke, VA and in a Swing Band (big band sound). If you get a horn, you can play along with your son, get into an adult band, and have the time of your life, Nelson. Give it a shot.....
