Friends, I am passing on an e-mail which I received this afternoon concerning Vic Rislow. Our love and sympathy to his family.
Dear Ms. Davis,
Im so sorry to pass along the information that Vic Rislow died Dec. 20, 2005 of complications from treatment for lung cancer. He was a professor of trumpet at Susquehanna University in Selinsgrove, PA for 35 years. Im a colleague at the university, and I was trying to track down a classmate to notify when I saw your message on the Martinsville High School web site.
Vic was a great musician, raconteur, father and grandfather, and friend.

Re: Viictor Rislow |
I am so sad to hear of the passing of Vic. We played together in the Mavahi bands and in the Melody Boys. I felt I had, among others, a small part in getting him into the "music business". I know Ralph Shank was very proud of Vic. Once I was staying in Martinsville with my parents and Vic came through town and looked me up. We talked about trumpet and I told him I wasn't playing as good as I wanted. Within a few days, he sent me some instructional trumpet CDs to help me rescue my "chops". I'll miss him along with many others. |
