Dear Classmates,
It has been quite a while since I touched base with the wonderful Class of 1962. Our sincere resolve to post more frequently on this great Website, notwithstanding, I seldom get much of an opportunity to spend time online.
My wife, my "Miss America", has been in a special health center near Toledo, Ohio for about eight months. She suffered a serious stroke in October of '06, and due to kidney failure has been on dialysis since early this year. She has several other health issues: diabetes; lymphedema; legally blind; aphasia from the stroke.
I try my best to make the 500-mile (one-way) trip each week to be at her side as much as possible. It isn't easy, but she would do as much or more if it were me in that situation.
You can readily understand why I can't correspond with you as often as I'd like.
I feel like somewhat of a slacker, perhaps a bit hypocritical, especially after I made the public "challenge" at our reunion for everyone possible to post here monthly at Mavahi.com.
Please pardon the long gaps between postings by ol' David "Jesse" Sparks. I will say this: "There may be individuals who appreciate their high school graduating class as MUCH as I do, but certainly few could appreciate it MORE than I do." The memories of my Mavahi, college and Navy days are all "tree-top tall."
It occurred to me that even in the hustle-bustle of the Christmas holiday season, some of you good folks may find a few moments to drop a greeting card to Carrie, and I will "push-pin" them to the bulletin board in her room. She will get a real lift from them, I'm sure. She saves all cards and other mail until I get there, so we can open them together, and I can read them to her.
Of course, your prayers will be deeply and warmly appreciated, too.

Thanks, David, for the post. I always enjoy your messages. Your wife must be special. May God Bless Her Real Good!!!!
My father in law's funeral was Monday. He was 95 and a prince of a man. He lived a good long life and was ready to go. My wife took very good care of him in his sickness. My brother Ronald and his wife Becky came down from Martinsville to the funeral. My mother is not doing well in the Beverly nursing home in Martinsville. Please remember her when you pray. Patricia and Bonnie have taken very good care of her.
Bonnie is retiring from West Window at the end of the year. Ronald and Patricia are retired also.
After 26 years in the Dry Cleaning business, I am in my third year of teaching 6th grade, special ed. here in Gainesville, Ga.
I heard a song on the radio this morning. The question was asked, " Where are you going for Christmas this year?". The answer was........I AM GOING TO CALVARY. What a great thought for Christmas 2007. No matter what our circumstances Calvary is a great destination.
