Just wanted to thank Clyde aka Bruce Lupton for reminding us of the website, and in my case, letting me know about it! I didn't know it was here. So much has changed over the years - Many of you probably know that Beth Renfroe Moorman died several years ago. Anne Haynes Lewis and Phyllis Sherman Walker and I visited with her twice before her death from cancer. Ken has remarried and lives in Williamsburg. And,I'm a great-grandmother!!! You know me, always the first out of the box. Ed and I have been amicably divorced since 1974, and he and I both have happily remarried. Our daughter, Lynne - 12.25.61, has two children, Samantha, 23, and Matthew, 18. Samantha has two children, Michael, 3 on Sept. 17, and Audrey, who will be 2 Dec. 30. She is in the process of getting a divorce (unfortunate choice of a husband - many problems), but all will be well. Matt's a senior in high school. Lynne, Samantha and Matt all live in Raleigh, so I get to see my precious 'greats' as often as possible. Samantha finished 2 years at NCState, and will be starting nursing school in 2 weeks. Lynne is a pharmacist with Walgreen's. Our son, John, died suddenly Sept. 2005, from esophageal varices, or disentigration of the esophagus brought on by alcohol abuse. I share this with you, with my heart broken but healing, to make you aware that many people can deal with their drinking habits, but some, like John, are not physically able to, and die a very sad death. We miss him so much. He leaves his wife Natalie, and three sons, Blake, 22; Vaughan, 17; and Steele, 12. They live in Greenville, NC. I've been happily remarried for 25 years in June 2007 to Steve Glass, an attorney and retired Rear Admiral, JAGC-USNR. We've had a fun life together. I manage agritourism farms for the Dept. of Agriculture in Raleigh, and had the opportunity to be executive assistant to former Gov. Jim Hunt from 1994-1997 when he named me Assistant Secretary in the Dept. of Administration to manage department legislation. I moved to the Dept. of Ag in 2002 to become director of Public Affairs and manage legislation for that dept. I created the Agritourism Office in 2003, and have a website, www.ncagr.com/agritourism, and also look at NC agritourism farms at www.ncfarmfun.com!
May you enjoy the blessings of the coming season with your loved ones.
I hope as many of us as possible can 'reunion' next summer! |
