RIP - 1
11/25/04     Nelson E. Smith  (1969)      fearless0351@aol.com
There is a message posted on the Class of 1970 board about Armando passing away today. I assume the unidentified person from the Class of 1971 was talking about Armando Labastilla, a member of the MHS tennis team all thru high school.

Re: RIP
We were very close friends during 6th-9th grade. I remember playing basketball almost every day at the city park and high school gym with him. I never saw him after 1971, but he was always a close friend. May he RIP.

Re: RIP
I remember Armando. What did he die from? How sad. He used to hang out at the YMCA with a group of us that went there for ping pong, swimming and general fun. Wasn't he also drafted for the Vietnam war?

Re: RIP
Hey Cindy
This is Ronnie Henderson, one of your old Druid Hills classmates.Armando died of liver cancer. He served in Korea, and also volunteered to test various amounts of various drugs while in service, which could very well have contributed to his later health problems.
Sorry to hear about your hurricane damage.Hope everything gets back to normal soon.

Re: RIP
Thanks, Ronnie. It's sad that it is 2 years later that I am hearing about Armando's death. He was such a nice guy. Thanks for your words of support for our hurricane problems. I hope by next year our life will be more "normal." I hope to see everyone at our next reunion in 5 years!
