50th Reunion - 10
06/12/12     Garland Burch  (1963)      gburch@satx.rr.com
I was in Martinsville for a few days the end of last month and talked to Ann Lackey about our 50th reunion in 2013. Ann is retired now and seems to be loving it. She is willing to help (but not head up) with a reunion if there is some interest. From the chatter in the recent posts on our message board there certainly seems to be some interest. I think the idea of having it in conjunction with the Old Dawgs weekend makes the most sense as Kathy will help us out also. I saw the booklet and the DVD that the Class of 61 put together for their 50th last year and it was tremendous. While we may not want to do anything that extensive we should still get together with as many of us as we can round up. Through this site we already have a number of e-mail addresses and if we could get everyone to send us either e-mail or snail mail addresses of classmates that we are in contact with then we could compile a list and split it up between those of us that are willing to make some contacts and see how many we might get to attend as well as some ideas of what we want to do. I am certainly willing to help with that effort or something similar if anyone has a better idea.

Re: 50th Reunion
Hey Garland....

I am so looking forward to our 50 th class reunion which will be our 1st reunion. I remember when I was having hip replacements I was contacted about a reunion.....I believe it would have been number 30......only 16 folks signed up.....we should have had it even though the numbers were small......

If I can help, please let me know. I am having all of my fingers reattached so the things I can do are limited.....but, maybe there are things I can do.

Where do you live and what are you up to?

Keep i touch....

Re: 50th Reunion
Jane, it was great to read your reply and yes I am certain that there are things we can all do to make our reunion happen. I found a black and white photo of our our class in caps and gowns in front of the school. I don't remember having that picture taken but we are all there. I have sent it to the webmaster for this site and asked if he could post it for all to enjoy and to see if anyone remembered us taking that photo. We will keep working toward contacting as many of our classmates as we can to let them know about the reunion so they can plan in advance to attend. You take care and thanks again for your reply.

Re: 50th Reunion
I too am glad to hear that a 50th reunion is alive seemingly moving forward. I too will be glad to help as I live in Greensboro and have, by some description, too much free time. We cannot let this opportunity go by even if the only thing we do is meet at the Dutch Inn and kill the buffet. The fellowship is too important to pass up.
