| Well, Y'all, what an embarrassment that the class of 1963, who never had their own reunion, outshown our class in their turnout at the "Old Dawgs" reunion luncheon today. Even though we only had 6 in attendance at the Class of '64 table (Ann Carter and Dink, Douglas, Susan Westfall, Betty Jo Campbell and myself), we all had a great time and missed ALL of you guys who did NOT attend. Most all of the other classes had a better turnout than we did; there were lots of laughs and tributes to class members who have recently passed, including a very sweet tribute to Jean Branham by Douglas. It was great fun to see so many others turn out from our high school days. We have to do better next year in terms of our attendance. I hope many more of you will come next year because the thing just keeps getting better and better each year. Susan and I rode up from Raleigh just for the day, and I never thought I'd say this, but I really enjoyed touring the school. It is spotless and looks far better than it did when we were in school. We peeked into many places that looked exactly the same including the auditorium, the pit, and we were both transported back into 1964 viewing the football field. We all were very fortunate and blessed to have attended such a wonderful high school and grown up in a place like Martinsville. I wish now I had played less and studied more...uhhh, not really! |
