Track Team: 1962-63 - 12
07/11/10     Tom Tullo  (1965)      twtullo@earthlink.net
Hi Everyone,
I attended MAVAHI during my Sophomore Year and ran track for Coach Jimmy Painter. Trackmates were: Billy May, Bruce Schreibfeder,Bobby Pyles, Bobby Hollander, Lewis Martin, Clyde Evans, Billy Smith, Tommy Hall, John Wharton, Gary Wheeler, Tommy Martin, Joe Hensley, David Hurd, Logan Esarey, Bob Schenk, Chippy Lackey, Jim Steagall, David Jones, Dan Walker, James Brammer, Buster Kitchel, Tom Graves, Clay Gravely, Bobby Vogler and Richard Lovell. The picture I still have today has "lucky me" standing next to the Coach.... In any event, I had a great time at MAVAHI during my Sophomore Year. My grandmother, Lizzie Edwards, lived right there on Ellsworth Street next to the old softball field and tennis courts.

I have been e-mailing Phillip Sparks regarding the 45th Reunion of the Class of 1965. My wife and I may be traveling to NYC from San Antonio during that time.

Being from NY, my brother and I would stay in Martinsville all summer with our grandmother for many, many years. We loved to swim at Liberty Heights, play softball at the "Cotton Mill Hill", and Clearview Drive.

Better run for now. My trackmates or others, kick me back an e-mail.
Tom Tullo

Hi, Tom. Sorry I don't remember you but you certainly brought up a LOT of names familiar to me. I was born and raised in Martinsville, so all those guys you mentioned were with me from 1st grade on. We would love to have you at the reunion. And by the way -- Liberty Heights pool was my favorite too. My grandmother lived on Dillard St. which was only a quick walk away.

Hi Tom, I was on the track team for two years prior to your sophmore year. I was unable to participate that year bcause of illness. I too have fond memories of the all the track meets. Take care,
Ken
